Blakely’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, healthcare litigation and healthcare regulatory matters. She has represented healthcare providers in Certificate of Need litigation and other administrative proceedings in the Office of Administrative Hearings as well as healthcare and non-healthcare clients in federal and state court actions involving pharmaceutical product liability, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and unfair and deceptive trade practices. Blakely regularly counsels healthcare providers on regulatory matters, including fraud and abuse, Medicare and Medicaid billing and reimbursement, HIPAA and HITECH Act compliance, corporate practice of medicine issues, and peer review practice. Blakely also represents healthcare practitioners in Medicare and Medicaid overpayment audits and appeals.
Blakely received a B.A. in Political Science from Furman University. She received her J.D. from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, where she was a Legal Research and Writing Teaching Assistant, a member of the Loyola University School of Law Moot Court, and of the St. Thomas More Inn of Court. Blakely is admitted to practice before all state courts in North Carolina, California and Louisiana. In addition, Blakely is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of North Carolina, the Northern District of California, and the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth and Fifth Circuits. Prior to joining the firm, Blakely was Of Counsel with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Raleigh, an associate with DLA Piper US LLP in Silicon Valley, California, and an associate with Gordon Arata McCollam Duplantis & Eagan LLP in New Orleans, Louisiana.
