Jake is a member of the firm’s Privacy & Data Security practice group. He advises clients on a wide range of privacy and data security laws, particularly the wide variety of state laws that restrict collection, storage, use, and protection of Social Security numbers, government-issued identification data, financial data, payment card information, and other personal information. Jake regularly prepares privacy notices and addresses contractual arrangements that involve the exchange of personal information. He also helps clients assess their data privacy, security, use, and disclosure practices, and assists clients responding to data beaches by providing advice on compliance with numerous data breach reporting laws.
Jake received his B.A., summa cum laude, from McDaniel College as a Phi Beta Kappa graduate and his J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. During law school Jake was a published member of the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law, and served as the Journal’s Senior Notes and Comments Editor.
