Director of Recruiting

Position Details

Wyrick Robbins is seeking a Director of Recruiting. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer/Executive Director and working in close conjunction with the Firm’s Executive Committee, Chair(s) of the Recruiting Committee, and Practice Group Leaders, the Director of Recruiting is significantly responsible for hiring of lawyers at the Firm.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Firm’s law school recruiting efforts and summer associate program. For example:
    • Develops and maintains relationships with identified law schools
    • Coordinates and executes attorney interviewing for on-campus interviews and call-backs
    • Coordinates summer mentoring assignments and workload
    • Organizes feedback and hiring decisions
    • Review incoming resumes and conduct initial screening interviews
  • Oversees the Firm’s lateral recruiting efforts. For example:
    • Develops and maintains relationships with recruiters
    • Coordinates review of lateral candidates by relevant practice group leaders and recruiting attorneys
    • Coordinates interviews and call backs
    • Organizes feedback and hiring decisions
  • Oversees the Firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts as they relate to recruiting and hiring. For example:
    • Identifying external diversity and inclusion-focused recruiting opportunities, such as law school or bar association networking events
    • Maintaining relevant metrics pertaining to recruiting and hiring in support of Firm’s Mansfield certification project
  • Plan, lead and attend internal and external interview sessions, social functions and other recruiting programs and initiatives.
  • Work with the Firm’s Practice Group Leaders, the Firm’s Executive Committee and Chair(s) of the Firm’s Recruiting Committee in evaluating hiring needs, sharing information which may impact hiring, and researching and reporting market remuneration and benefits packages for attorneys.
  • Attend Firm meetings that involve the responsibilities described above and serve as a member of any Firm committee whose function affects these responsibilities, such as the Recruiting Committee and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.

Education, Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree required, and a J.D. degree is preferred, with at least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience with a law firm or other legal professional service organization.
  • Practical experience with resume review, candidate screening, interviewing, evaluating candidates, presentation and recruiting “sales” functions.
  • Ability to attend in-person recruiting and development events, including out of town events, during and after business hours.
  • Ability to identify creative opportunities to enhance Firm processes. 
  • A high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within and outside of the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with strong time management skills.

Location

While some remote work will be permitted, candidates should be willing to spend most of their time working in the Firm’s office in Raleigh, North Carolina.
