The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce is conducting a 5-year benchmark survey of U.S. investment in foreign interests.
A BE-10 report is required to be filed by May 29, 2020 by any U.S. individual or entity that had direct or indirect ownership or control of at least 10 percent of the voting stock (or equivalent interest) of a foreign business at the end of the U.S. person’s 2019 fiscal year.
The survey can be filed online at https://www.bea.gov/efile.
If you have any questions or need any assistance, you may contact Jim Cobb. We may be able assist you in filing the survey or requesting an extension.
Failure to file a BE-10 Report could lead to civil penalties up to $48,000, and criminal penalties (for willful violations) up to $10,000 and, if an individual, up to one year in prison.
