Alyssa is a member of the firm’s Privacy & Data Security practice group. She advises clients on compliance with federal, state, and foreign privacy and data security laws and regulations.  She has experience advising on laws and regulations including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)/California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and state insurance laws. Alyssa helps businesses build privacy programs and update existing programs in light of business and legal developments. She also assists clients assess and remediate risk associated with the implementation of emergent technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Alyssa has experience assisting clients with incident response, including overseeing forensics investigations, analyzing and advising on legal obligations arising from security incidents, and developing and facilitating stakeholder communications and consumer and regulator notifications. She assists clients in responding to regulatory inquiries and investigations. She also assists client in enhancing their security posture. Alyssa leverages her experience to help clients develop and enhance incident response plans in light of the challenges of a constantly evolving threat landscape.

Alyssa received her B.A., cum laude, from Binghamton University, and her J.D., cum laude, from William & Mary Law School. During law school, Alyssa was Senior Notes Editor for the William & Mary Business Law Review and a McGlothlin Scholar.
