Courtney is a member of the firm’s Emerging Companies, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Capital Markets practice groups.  Her practice focuses on assisting companies in various stages of their development and on a wide range of matters including company formations, debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, and dissolutions.  

Courtney received her J.D. from UNC School of Law, with Honors. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. During law school, Courtney served as both a staff member and Symposium Editor of the North Carolina Law Review and participated in the Community Development Law Clinic. Throughout her time at UNC, Courtney played on the UNC women’s club soccer team, competing with teams from across the nation.

  • Served as company-side counsel to a North Carolina telecommunications infrastructure company in approximately $12 million Series C Preferred Stock financing
  • Served as buyer’s counsel for a biopharmaceutical company in its all stock acquisition of another biopharmaceutical company, valued at approximately $16 million plus the potential for contingent value rights of an additional $6.5 million
  • Served as seller’s counsel to a local construction and restoration company in an asset purchase by a private equity firm valued at approximately $14,500,000
  • Served as seller’s counsel to an Israeli-based company’s stock acquisition of a North Carolina agricultural technology company valued at $27 million
