Wyrick Robbins partner, Lee M. Whitman, has been named President-Elect of SAFEchild, a not-for-profit child abuse prevention agency established in Raleigh in 1992. Whitman, who has served on the SAFEchild Board of Directors since 2003, will serve as President-Elect during fiscal year 2006-2007 and then President of the Board of Directors during fiscal year 2007-2008.
SAFEchild is committed to eliminating child abuse in Wake County by helping adults and children create nurturing environments free from abuse and neglect. Through its many programs, SAFEchild (Stop Abuse For Every child”) seeks to prevent child abuse from occurring and to empower caregivers to move toward healthy family relationships by breaking negative parenting patterns. SAFEchild also seeks to educate and raise awareness about the issue of child abuse in Wake County. SAFEchild works closely with the Wake County courts to provide both mandated parenting programs to domestic violence offenders and family teamwork classes for parents with children seen in juvenile court.
