David L. Wilke

Bio

David is a leader in the firm’s Investment Funds, Private Equity, and Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice groups.

David heads a team of corporate attorneys who, together with tax, ERISA and other specialists, advise the firm’s institutional investor clients on all aspects of their investments in and alongside private equity, venture capital, and other private investment funds. These clients include asset managers, funds-of-funds, insurance companies, family offices, and corporate/strategic investors. David and his team regularly represent these clients in connection with their capital commitments to private funds, as well as with co-investments, secondary transactions, continuation funds, and separately managed accounts.

He also regularly represents emerging growth companies in a variety of transactions, from organization/start-up to securities offerings, licensing and other strategic transactions, and mergers and acquisitions.

David received his law degree from Stanford Law School and served as an Associate Editor of the Stanford Law Review. He completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. David began his career in the Silicon Valley office of Cooley.

The Investment Funds practice group is an interdisciplinary team of attorneys who focus on formation and management of private investment funds, and representation of fund sponsors, managers, advisers, and investors. We provide legal counsel in all relevant areas, including fund structure, tax planning, securities laws, internal ownership and control, regulatory, and other legal matters.

Private Equity

Wyrick Robbins has been actively involved in the private equity space since the firm’s inception, assisting sponsors and family offices with the organization of their funds and other investment vehicles as well as the acquisition, operation, and disposition of their portfolio companies and investments.

Our mission is to help build and finance innovative companies. With a team of dedicated, energized professionals, we have built a legal services engine for the emerging companies and venture capital market that is systematic, knowledgeable and efficient. 

Life Sciences

The Wyrick Robbins Life Sciences Industry Team focuses on serving the special needs of participants in traditional and emerging life sciences markets, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, contract research and laboratory services, agricultural biotechnology, and drug discovery tools.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Our M&A practice group is composed of experienced transactional attorneys focused on handling the complexities of M&A transactions. We take pride in working closely with our clients at every stage of the process, from pre-transaction preparation and deal structuring in order to maximize value and minimize risk, through due diligence, to drafting and negotiating definitive agreements, and ultimately to closing and post-closing advice.

Capital Markets

Our Capital Markets practice group assists clients with their most complex and challenging capital raising and corporate governance needs, leveraging the deep expertise of our attorneys and paralegals. We work with companies navigating every stage of the capital raising process, including advising issuers, underwriters, and other financial institutions on an all types of equity and debt capital raisings in a practical and highly responsive manner.
