Devon E. White

Bio

Devon leads the firm’s Trademarks practice group. She advises established companies and emerging businesses on the development, protection, and enforcement of their brands in the United States and internationally.

Her practice encompasses brand selection and clearance, domestic and international trademark prosecution, portfolio development and management, trademark licensing, enforcement, and dispute resolution. Devon develops phased strategies that align brand protection and enforcement efforts with each client’s business priorities, resources, and evolving needs.

In disputes and enforcement matters, Devon represents clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and advises on trademark infringement, domain name disputes, and unauthorized brand use across websites, social media platforms, and online marketplaces. Her work includes platform takedowns, cease-and-desist demands, and coexistence and settlement agreements, with a focus on practical solutions that support business goals.

She has substantial experience representing clients in software and technology, financial services and fintech, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, health technology and clinical sciences, cosmetics and personal care, industrial technology and manufacturing, and food and beverage.

Devon earned her B.A. and M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she later taught in the English Department. She earned her J.D. from the North Carolina Central University School of Law.

Devon taught at the North Carolina Central University School of Law for several years and spent more than a decade as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where she taught a trademark practice seminar. In 2014, she launched the UNC School of Law Intellectual Property Clinic, a USPTO-certified clinic, and supervised the clinic for several years.
