Wyrick Robbins Diversity Scholarship

The Wyrick Robbins Diversity Scholarship demonstrates our commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our firm and the legal profession by providing professional and financial support to law students at the outset of their legal careers. The scholarship is awarded to a 1L law student who has strong academic and professional credentials, a demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the profession and Triangle communities, and ability to bring a diverse perspective to the firm.

Scholarship Components

The Wyrick Robbins Diversity Scholarship is designed to provide the recipient with unique professional development opportunities and financial support to create a foundation for sustained success in the legal profession. The scholarship consists of the following components:

  • Summer Associate Position. The recipient will receive a paid summer associate position during each of 1L summer (up to eight weeks) and 2L summer (up to ten weeks). Please visit the Law Student/Summer Program portion of our website to learn more about our summer associate program.
  • Financial Award. In addition to the salary earned as a summer associate, following the completion of the 2L summer associate position, the recipient is eligible to receive a $20,000 award if the recipient is offered and accepts a position with our firm as a full-time associate after graduation.
  • Dedicated Professional Mentor. The recipient will be assigned at least two dedicated attorney mentors from our firm. At least one mentor will be a partner with significant leadership roles or seniority within the firm, such as a practice group leader.

Application Process

The application consists of your resume, a personal statement reflecting your ability to bring a diverse perspective to the firm and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and Triangle communities (no more than two pages in length), and transcripts (undergraduate and 1L fall semester). Students are encouraged to submit applications prior to 1L fall grades being available as applications are considered on a rolling basis. If your 1L fall grades are not available at the time you apply, please submit your other materials and provide your 1L fall grades when they become available.  Please complete the form and submit the other application materials even if you have already applied for a summer associate position with our firm.
