The SEC recently revised its rules governing private placements of securities to eliminate the ban on general solicitation of potential investors. Upon the effectiveness of these amendments on September 23, 2013, companies seeking to raise capital through the sale of securities will have potentially significant new means of finding investors and thereby raising capital.
